Well, it's been pretty hectic here at Squadron Central!  Mostly because I'm starting a new job, and it's got a weird schedule.  Consequently, I don't have anything to talk about today.  But come back next time; by then, I'll have a handle on things again!

The State of Things in General...

Howdy you Truly Adventurous Souls!

Well, I'm going to tell you straight up how it is.  We've been pretty lucky, I guess, as far as the Coronavirus.  Nobody in my household, nor in my extended family seems to have gotten hit by it.  I know a few of my former co-workers have not been so lucky in that regard.  And now, of course, a lot of things are supposed to be opening up here in Las Vegas.

However, my Mother already had other health problems, and the lockdowns have possibly worsened her condition more than we thought.  A few doctor appointments and we find out that she really ought to have several tests and at least one operation.  These appointments, and general housekeeping/caretaking duties are going to seriously affect my time.

As a result of this, I only have one more story prepared for Serial Saturdays.  The next story is a space opera about Bradley Brackett, recycled from the old Abandoned Towers serial.  Once this story is finished, I will be stopping Serial Saturdays for the indefinite future.  But I will be continuing the regularly scheduled blog posts.  

In a few months, this barrage of doctor appointments, tests, and operations should be finished, and we'll see how my situation is.  My writing time is going to diminish, and I really ought to concentrate on items to sell rather than things to feature for free here on the blog.  I would like to resume the serials in the future, but we'll have to wait and see.

I am working on some stories which I was hoping to publish to the kindle in a few more months, hopefully I won't have to push back their release.  

Anyway, that's what is going on with me.  It's not exactly the adventure I was hoping for, but we are expecting a happy ending.  Thank you for your patience, understanding, and good wishes!  With luck, the next post will be more fun!

It's a New Year for New Adventures!

Well a hearty hello and Happy New Year to you!

I know I don't have to tell you that last year was a messed-up affair all the way around.  Layoffs, lockdowns, sicknesses, depression, civil unrest, anguish mixed with inner turmoil, and then there's all the stuff going on out in the world, too!

Well, we're not going to let that stop us, no sirree!  We're planning to embark upon more adventures, expeditions, and safaris even as we speak!  And, of course, you're invited to come along, because it wouldn't be the same without you!  After all, everyone needs a healthy imagination and a hearty dose of adventure once in a while!  How do I know?  Because of fan messages like these*:

I'm so glad I've found your website and started reading your stories!  By avidly reading your thoroughly entertaining tales, I have vicariously experienced adventure, excitement, and really wild things!  Please keep up the good work, because nothing gets my blood pumping like when there's a new exciting installment to read for Serial Saturday!  I am proud and thankful to be part of The Adventure Squadron!

Read any good stories lately?

I'm currently reading Transit To Scorpio by Alan Burt Akers. It's inspired by John Carter of Mars.  The hero, Dray Prescott, gets transported to the world of Kregen, near Antares and has a multitude of adventures.  Apparently the Dray Prescott series is the longest running sword-n-planet series ever.  I'll tell ya more about it when I get through the book.

Interlude...

Greetings all you Trackers And Scouts!

I'm going to be perfectly honest with you, I don't really know what to talk about today.  I was going to talk about those old Saturday Matinee Cliffhanger Serials, but I'm not really in the mood, so I think I'll save that for another time.

I have been working on the Aurivyn stories about Darg and Maxalla...but not as much as I ought to be.

I think I'm going to blame this on the Coronavirus.  I am one of the many people who ended up losing their day job due to lockdowns, and with the limited re-openings, and now new shutdowns slowly being instituted...I'm a little worried about finances.  This is a terrible distraction for me at a time when I should be getting all sorts of writing work done.

A more pleasant distraction was the recent visit of my niece and nephew.  They wanted to play some Dungeons and Dragons, and so I rattled off a quick adventure mostly on the fly.  I have designed another adventure that we have not played yet, but I think it came out really well.  I am contemplating writing it up with the OGL Labyrinth Lord rules and offering it for sale on DriveThru RPG.

Well, I've got plenty of things I ought to be working on, so I'd better sign off.  Hopefully, I'll have more news to share next time!
